1.3 User Content

Meal Photos: Photos you take or select for meal logging. These photos are:

  • Stored locally on your device
  • Temporarily processed by our nutrition analysis service to identify foods (see Section 4)
  • Not permanently stored on our servers

1.4 App Settings and Preferences

  • Blood Glucose Targets: Your personalized glucose threshold settings
  • Reminder Preferences: Your notification and reminder settings
  • Display Preferences: Chart height and other visual settings

1.5 Automatically Collected Information

3.1 Local Storage

The majority of your data is stored locally on your device using SQLite database technology. This includes:

  • All blood glucose readings
  • Your personal settings and preferences

This means your health data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers for storage.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Local data encryption on your device (provided by iOS)
  • Secure HTTPS connections for any data transmitted to third-party services
  • No server-side storage of your health data

  • Using device passcodes or biometric locks

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

4.1 OpenAI Vision

  • Purpose: Food recognition and nutritional analysis from meal photos
  • Data Shared: Meal photos (temporarily processed for food identification)
  • Data Received: Food names, nutritional information

When you take a photo for meal logging, the image is sent through our secure proxy server (api.glowglucose.com) to OpenAI for food recognition. Images are compressed before transmission and processed in real-time. They are not permanently stored by OpenAI or us. You can disable AI photo analysis at any time in the app's Profile settings; doing so will prevent photos from being sent to OpenAI.

4.2 Glow Glucose API (Food Search & Nutrition)

  • Purpose: Food search, barcode lookup, and nutrition data
  • Data Shared: Food search queries, barcode scans, and meal photos (sent through our secure proxy server)
  • Data Received: Food names, nutritional information, serving sizes

When you search for food items or scan a barcode, your query is sent to our secure proxy server (api.glowglucose.com), which retrieves nutritional data on your behalf. Only the search term or barcode is shared; no personal or health information is included. All communication is encrypted via HTTPS.

4.3 RevenueCat

  • Purpose: Subscription and purchase management
  • Data Shared: Anonymous user identifier, purchase transactions
  • Data Received: Subscription status, entitlement information

RevenueCat helps us manage subscriptions and does not have access to your health data.

4.4 Apple App Store

All payment processing is handled directly by Apple. We never receive or store your payment card information.

4.5 Expo/React Native

  • Purpose: App framework and notifications
  • Data Shared: Push notification tokens (if notifications enabled)

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

5.1 We Do Not Sell Your Data

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings:

7. Data Retention

7.1 Local Data

Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the App. We do not have access to data stored locally on your device.

7.2 Third-Party Data

  • Meal Photos: Processed in real-time by OpenAI and not permanently stored
  • Subscription Data: Retained by RevenueCat as long as you have an active subscription, subject to their privacy policy
  • Purchase Records: Retained by Apple according to their policies

7.3 After Uninstallation

When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted from your device.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

The health information collected and displayed by this App is for informational and tracking purposes only. This App is not a medical device and should not be used for medical diagnosis or treatment decisions.
